After extensive research the FDA (the scientists) declared that Plan B (emergency contraception - EC) should be sold over-the-counter with no age restrictions. The Justice Department hit the roof - they've conceded to over-the-counter access but want an 18-and-over age restriction.
My friend Cindy said it loud and clear on Plan B:
"The NWHN is disappointed that our government is still letting politics trump science. There is no medical justification for putting an age restriction on access to EC. It’s a barrier that affects women of all ages. As a result, many women who would like to use this safe and effective, after-the-fact contraceptive won’t be able to get timely access to it, and that’s a shame."
