Whatever Time I Have Left I Want to Make Art

It took 50 years of making mirrored geometric sculptures but this month, at 92 years of age, Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian got her exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum. She's the first Iranian artist to ever be featured in a solo exhibition.

Her show, titled Infinite Possibility: Mirror Works and Drawings 1974–2014, runs until June 3.

Monir was born in Qazvin, Iran in 1924 and pursued art school both in Iran and at Parson's School of Design. Just like Betty, she headed to New York in the 50's and worked as a commerical artist and freelance illustrator for Vogue.

There's something about women born in the 20's who packed their bags and headed to the big city to pursue their dreams of becoming an artist. I love Monir's life perspective:
